Propagational Selection: An Essay on Darwin's Principle and the Nature of Things Ó Bruce David Sommerville

This is a philosophical and speculative essay, which discusses some aspects of Charles Darwin’s principle of natural selection, and explores the possibility of applying a Darwinian principle of selection to cosmological evolution. The aim is to consider how the essential qualities of the cosmos may have arisen and why they may be a necessary outcome of selection.

The Speculations of H. G. Wells and T. H. Huxley: A Study in the Relations of Science and Literature 1880-1896  Ó Bruce David Sommerville

This thesis, for which I was awarded the degree of Master of Philosophy, is an interdisciplinary study of two of the early works of H. G. Wells - The Time Machine (1895) and The Island of Doctor Moreau (1896). It examines their relationship to the science and literature of their day, including the essays of Thomas Henry Huxley. The Abstract, Table of Contents, and Chapter 1 only are given here. To receive the full version of the thesis, please email BDSommerville@gmail.com
